The pins carry the main load when driving the tractor. Therefore, special requirements are placed on the quality and physical characteristics of the steel alloys from which the pins are made. It is mounted by the head exclusively on the outer side of the link. This prevents the pin from moving inwards and consequently damaging the tractor shell in the event that the cotter pin is sheared off.
